Competency and Credentialing Webinar
July 21, 2016 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm
ADL will be hosting its second Competency and Credentialing Community of Practice webinar on Thursday, 21 July from 13:00-14:00 EDT. This webinar series offers high-level information about ADL projects and concepts related to competencies and credentialing, and it provides an opportunity for the wider community to get involved. Our last webinar focused on the recently launched ADL Competency and Skills System (CASS) project. This upcoming webinar will provide details about the ADL Military Micro-Credentials (MIL-CRED) project.
The MIL-CRED project kicked off in September of 2015 with the goal of designing, developing, and testing a standardized micro-credential model that facilitates transition of military personnel to civilian careers and educational opportunities. The team is exploring and evaluating multiple micro-credential models including open badges and xAPI for their suitability for use as a general purpose military micro-credential. MIL-CRED will feature multi-level granularity and relational nesting of macro-credentials, tracking of in-progress credential requirements, and a taxonomy of links to facilitate competency equivalency across domains.
Imagine how helpful a fully vetted, fully automated, personally controlled digital resume would be for both the individual as well as potential hiring managers in military, academic, and corporate organizations. The MIL-CRED project aims to bring us to that reality.
