ADL Initiative Shines Bright at I/ITSEC 2015 in Orlando
ADL Initiative is returning from a busy and very successful week at I/ITSEC in Orlando, FL. Buzz was all around ADL Initiative as Dr. Sae Schatz kicked off the week winning best tutorial award for “Elevate your Instruction: Practical Tactics to Maximize Military Learning.”
A constant stream of visitors stopped by our booth to learn more about our open-source projects such as the Mobile Learning Reference Model, Experience API (xAPI), and Virtual World Sandbox. Information on our Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) process and how to become an International Partner were also hot topics. Those who had questions even had the opportunity to talk to our current partners and performers first-hand.
Our paper presentations were highly attended and the Virtual World
Sandbox PlugFest, our main event for the conference, was standing room
only for the introduction and overview. Dr. Schatz opened and Rob
Chadwick continued by providing an overview and demonstration of the
Sandbox. A lot of hard work went into this event. A new version of the
Sandbox was released a week prior (involved 718 changes) resulting in
massive speed increases in the scripting engine, a more responsive user
interface, and major improvements to the documentation. Those who stayed
for the hands-on portion were impressed with the VW Sandbox’s
capabilities and ease-of-use. Attendees conducted a step-by-step
walk-through and were able to take their day’s work back to their
offices.
The ADL Partnership Network met on Thursday of I/ITSEC to discuss global priorities surrounding Learning Science & Technology. The Partnership Directors also participated in brainstorming sessions on how to improve and expand our international network.
We are excited for what’s to come and the new energy around ADL Initiative!
