xAPI Standardization

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) P9274.1.1 xAPI Working Group is developing a standard to provide an interoperable means to store and retrieve learning experience data, as required by modern, data-intensive learning technologies. To advance the xAPI Specification to an IEEE standard, the Working Group aims to standardize the data model format and communication protocol for learning experience data, allowing vendors to build interoperable solutions and to take advantage of many products that support xAPI.

Date Started: 2017

Meeting Schedule: Currently not meeting as the standard has successfully balloted! This should become an IEEE standard in late 2022 or early 2023.
